This tape is a senegalese 1983 reedition of a rare malian LP released in 1979 by Disco Stock (DS7918).
Djali Mady Tounkara (vocals and guitar) and Mory Kante left the Rail Band moving from Bamako to Abidjan in 1978. Djeli Madi recorded then 2 albums and this 1st one includes vocals by Abdoulaye Ba and Damory Kouyate. "Nama" is just a superb mandingo unique blend of tradition and modernity. "Soundjata" has not been release in the original LP, and might be comes from earlier Super Rail Band on Disco Stock DS7908(?). "Yobalema" is introduced in senegalese, the band is presented as "interantional mandingo trio", including Djeli Moussa Kouyate on guitar. Very deep including traditional rhythms and instruments, but an innovative sound exploration with modern arrangements.
