On the Colombian caribbean shore has been reinvented an afrocolombian music and dance called mapale.
Based on drums, claps and voices, it is originally a transe music deeply rooted in Africa. Here's a mapale inspired salsa track by Joe Quijano. He's from Puerto Rico but grew up in the Bronx, so exposed to a wide variety of latin and caribbean influences. The track was released on Joe Quijano's label Cesta Records (CE 538) and reissued on Soulposter.
