Jack Costanzo at the Garden of Allah - Bongo Fever (Afrocuban jazz, 1959)

(Liberty LRP 3109).

Here's a spicy version of "Quiere" by Jack Costanzo recorded live at the Garden of Allah, a famous place frequently visited by Hollywood intelligentsia from the late 20s.

The "Garden of Allah" refers to a novel by Robert Smythe Hichens (and various movies based on it), and gave name to this Hotel founded by the controversial actress Alla Nazimova. Hot spot during the prohibition welcoming writers, actors or intellectuals. This LP was recorded in 1959, the same year the Garden of Allah closed, and Mr Bongo always deserves his surname, even playing a cha-cha...

Jack Costanzo - Quiere:

Jack Costanzo - Bongos
Carlos Mejia - Congas
Jay Corre - Tenor sax
Gil Barrios - Paiano
Tony Reyes - Bass
Chuy Ruiz - Drums
